Financial Self-Sufficiency

Many people who use mental health services experience poverty, institutionalization, and financial  issues that are often exacerbated by psychiatric  distress or periods of hospitalization. Many have lost their right to make decisions about their own money. By offering information and support, the goals of increased self-confidence, greater independence, and establishing (or re-establishing) personal power over finances can be achieved.

Financial self-sufficiency focus areas include:

  • Money Basics
  • Poverty and Mental Illness
  • Budgeting
  • Savings and Asset Building
